In AICE Media Studies, we are starting our portfolio project for our Cambridge exam. The blogs following this post will all be regarding this project as we will be working on this project until March 25th, 2025. To first introduce this project to us, we did an assignment regarding different film openings to give us inspiration and help us develop the context for the rest of the film.
My initial plans are to create a film openings surrounding a toxic couple, who have many issues. In the opening, their relationship will be established and the audience will see a glimpse of their issues, but not the full extent of it. My approach will be to develop the relationship in the film opening but also to develop context to the film and the background information for the audience. Since the opening is only 2 minutes, this will be challenging, but I am confident I will be able to convey the message to the audience in this amount of time.
I plan to use techniques learned throughout the year including different types of shots, angles, and sound effects as well. Using foley sounds in the film opening is a goal of mine, and to be able to create realistic sounds coming from foley.
My approach is going to be to plan first the storyboard and the script of the movie, and especially develop the entire plot of the movie to myself and my partner so we can move to how we want to plan how the opening is structured and decide which scenes go first, what sounds we want to use, etc.
