One Word Film
Hi everyone, today I would like to share my project. It was based on a word given to us at random.
Summary of the directions
- We had to choose a random number and had a random word assigned to us (my partner and I)
- We were not allowed to use any dialogue, just technique, facial expressions, and body language
- We were also only allowed to use instrumental music if we liked (my partner and i did not)
- The story had to be over a minute long but less than a minute and a half
Brainstorming/Storyboarding
When my partner and i brainstormed our project, we came up with an idea and decided to pursue it. We first planned out video out on a storyboard, which I will attach. This storyboard helped us envision our video better and plan out exactly how we wanted it to be organized. The storyboard helped my partner and I envision how our video was going to turn out, which scenes to shoot in which order, and make it easier for us to shoot everything all at once.
In order to edit our video and put all the clips together, I used Adobe Premier Pro.
What I did well and what I can improve
In my opinion, I think I edited all the clips together well, and acted in the video the best I could. I think the editing software took me a little while to figure it out, but once I did, I got the hang of it and put together the video in a well ordered way. I also think the techniques we used in our video (ex: one clip is blurry to show the student’s eyes as blurry and then the screen goes black) helped us convey our word to the audience instead of them having to guess.
I can improve on the efficiency of shooting the clips. For some of the clips, we shot it all at once, but for the rest we shot them in the order of the storyboard which wasn’t as efficient. What would be more efficient is if we would’ve shot every scene that is shot from the same angle at the same time, and ordered it together when editing, so I will improve this for the next project.
I will attach my project below, and let me know if you can guess what word we got assigned just by watching our video.
